1984. The original banknote of 5000 Pesos Argentinos, without boxed overprint, was issued in 1984, and is listed as Pick # 318. Portrait of J.B. Alberdi.
1985. Banknote of 5 Australes (overprinted on 5000 Pesos Argentinos). The original currency is "Pesos Argentinos", on the present note overprinted with the new exchange, the Austral. Pick # 321.
Bonds with the same portrait as above, called LECOP: LEtras de Cancelación de Obligaciones Provinciales. These bonds were circulated during 2001 and 2002 at a substantial discount from their face value, so anybody accepting was bound to experience devaluation. While LECOPs were intended as a means to replace legal currency (Argentine pesos) at a time when cash was scarce, there were occasions in which LECOPs were not accepted as valid means of payment. Were issued in facial values of 50 cts., 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Lecops.
